Houseplants for improving indoor air quality

mother in law tongue improves air quality
Thinking about buying an air purifier for your home?

Think again – purchasing one of those super expensive air purifiers to reduce air pollution could set you back thousands of dollars without even taking into account the electricity consumption are a waste of money and you should instead chose the greener option.

You may be thinking “greener option? OK I’ll buy some flowers” but buying flowers may smell nice and hide some odors for a short period but they offer close to no purifying qualities, instead purchase your very own natural indoor air purifier. The Snake Plant also know as Sansevieria trifasciata or Mother-in-laws tongue is one of the best plants you could have in your house.

The Snake Plant is highly efficient at purifying air and ensures you will have a cleaner quality within your house whilst also leaving it smelling fresh. Studies by NASA have found that the Snake Plant has been able to remove (or significantly reduce amounts of) benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene from the surrounding air, this is highly beneficial as the compounds have been known to cause certain cancers.  These plants are known to be very efficient and also very hardy with only requiring minimal amounts of sunlight and water to thrive.

We should all take advantage of plants like these and head down to you local plant nursery and grab a few or maybe more than a few; for your computer desk, living areas, and bathroom – Snake plant might also be a great alternative to those potent aerosol sprays!
